Since 1973, Children's Council has been striving to make high-quality, affordable child care a reality for all San Francisco families.

We provide child care payment assistance as well as free San Francisco child care resources and referrals for parents. We offer workshops and supportive services for child care providers who are licensed, seeking licensure, or are license-exempt. In addition, we raise public awareness about the necessity of child- and family-friendly policies.

Join our Board of Directors

Children’s Council is now seeking parents, providers, and other community members interested in issues affecting children and families to serve on its Board of Directors. Board service offers an opportunity to work with a diverse and committed group of volunteers who strive to make a real impact on the quality and quantity of safe, affordable child care in San Francisco.

Health and Nutrition

Save the date! Our 5th Annual Nutrition Night will be held on October 14 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Sanchez Elementary School. Finding Child Care

Children’s Council provides free child care referrals to licensed San Francisco child care centers and child care family homes. We also provide free referrals to other resources such as employment, housing, health care, afterschool programs, and summer programs for youth.
